East Peoria hopes to produce another strong performance in the Southern Illinois Orthopedic Center Holiday Tournament.

This is the Raiders’ fourth appearance in the Carbondale event.

In the 45th edition, East Peoria opens Saturday night against Oak Lawn Richards.

Awaiting in the second tournament game for the Raiders will be Murphysboro or West Memphis (Ark.).

In 2005, East Peoria won its first two games, including an upset of host Carbondale, on the way to a fourth-place overall finish.

Last year, the Raiders also won consecutive games en route to a second-place consolation award.

Overall, East Peoria is 4-6 at Carbondale since departing the Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament.

Upon returning from Carbondale, the Raiders will have 10 days to prepare for a Jan. 9 visit by Metamora.
