EAST PEORIA – Ten women will compete to see who will be the Festival of Lights Queen during the Festival of Lights Queen Pageant, at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Par-A-Dice Hotel ballroom.
Each contestant must live within the East Peoria city limits, be single and between the ages of 16 and 20. They will be judged on poise, appearance, personality and a final question.
The contestants are Megan Stafford, Karista Davis, Taylor Schofield, Brooke Skaggs, Shannon Hoffman, Natalie Ogle, Kalee Cunefare, Justyce Blankenship, Kimberlee Conover and Cheyanne Hasty.
The queen will receive a $1,000 college scholarship and a package of prizes donated by local businesses. The first and second runners-up also receive prizes.
The queen and her court will ride on a float in the 28th annual Festival of Lights Parade Nov. 17. The queen will also reign over all festivities for the 2012 Festival of Lights, make appearances at community events in 2013 and crown the 2013 queen.
A full-service breakfast will be served prior to the pageant. Cost is $10 per person. Tables of 10 can be reserved. Tickets will be available through Nov. 8 at EastSide Centre and East Peoria City Hall.
