General Motors recently donated a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze to the GM-Automotive Service Educational Program (GM-ASEP) at Illinois Central College. The vehicle will be added to the ICC training facility where students learn the knowledge and skills to prepare for careers as GM automotive technicians. GM donated a similar car to the program one year ago.
“I am proud of the relationships we have built with our GM dealerships and our continued support from the dealers and General Motors for the ASEP program at Illinois Central College,” says David Morgenstern, associate professor at ICC.
ICC has trained students through the GM-ASEP program for 11 years. GM-ASEP is a partnership between ICC, GM dealers, and AC Delco Professional Service Center shops that alternates eight weeks of classroom and lab study with eight weeks working in a dealership for a two-year program of study that leads to an associate’s of applied science degree. The program is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation .
