EAST PEORIA-Gary L. Crippen, 70, of East Peoria, died at 8:27 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Illinois Cancer Care in Peoria, after a four year battle with lung cancer.
Born on Sept. 4, 1942, in Centralia to Elston and Mary Brock Crippen, he married Marcia Crossman on Dec. 23, 1961, in Benton.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Marcia; four children, Cathy (Tony) Delinski of Peoria, Carri Miller (Dan Kober) of Pekin, Curt (Barb) Crippen of East Peoria, and Craig (Lindsey) Crippen of Washington; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Regie (Dee) Crippen of Okala, Fla.; one sister, Kayla (Vern) Jourdan of Marion one; brother-in-law, Doug (Laurie) Crossman of Bloomington; one and sister-in-law, Phyllis Williams of East Peoria.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
He served in the Marine Corp. from 1960-1963. He was a supporter of the Disabled American Veterans.
Gary retired from Caterpillar in 1994 after 31 years of employment at the Mossville plant as an inspector. He then worked at G & D Integrated from 1996-2009.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. The Rev. John Hauck officiated. Visitation was Dec. 6 at the funeral home in East Peoria. Burial was in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria where military rites will be performed by the Marines and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
