HOPEDALE — Dalpha M. “Dal” Reed, 91, of Hopedale, formerly of East Peoria, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Hopedale Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 30, 1921, in Pekin, she married Max Conn in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1944. She later married Vern Reed in December 1948 in Pekin. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1988, in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by her mother Myona Folkman Williams.
She is survived by three daughters: Jill (Glenn) Keturi of Hopedale, Jan (James) Kee of East Peoria and Lynn Beresoff of Lombard; four grandchildren; and one stepbrother, David Williams of Maryland.
She worked over 50 years as a court reporter for the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. She retired in 2006 at the age of 84. She was also a freelance writer and went by the name Georgiana Folkman. She published many articles over the years, her last being published in 2011. In 1966 she won a medical journalism award for Outstanding Medical Series by a weekly newspaper. The subject of the series was the need for a Health Department in Tazewell County.
She was a member of East Peoria First United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of the American Business Woman’s Association in Peoria.
There will be a funeral for Dal at 10 a.m. Jan. 5, 2013, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. The Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
