PEORIA — Captain William Colbrook, Illinois State Police District 8 Commander, announced Tuesday that District 8 Troopers and special agents will conduct Operation Campus/Tap details in Peoria and Tazewell Counties during March.
The purpose of Operation Campus/Tap is to reduce and deter underage drinking in Illinois. “Campus” addresses underage drinking among college age youth, while “tap” focuses on underage drinking among high school age youth.
The goal of the program is to prevent, detect, and take enforcement action in response to violations of laws associated with impaired driving, the sale of alcohol to minors, and the illegal consumption or possession of alcohol or drugs by minors.
Funding for the Operation Campus/TAP program is provided in whole or in part by the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
