EAST PEORIA — Henry Lester Almasy, 85, of East Peoria, Ill., died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home.
EAST PEORIA — Henry Lester Almasy, 85, of East Peoria, Ill., died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home. Born March 1, 1927, in East Peoria, Ill., to John and Clara W. Branz Almasy, he married Mary E. Moody on Oct. 9, 1949, in East Peoria. Henry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers. Henry was a World War II Navy Veteran, where he served aboard a ship stationed next to the USS Missouri, where he saw many dignitaries during the surrender that ended World War II. Henry worked in the maintenance department at Hiram Walker for 20 years, and also worked construction in the Peoria area for V. Jobst and several others contractors. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed. There will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials in Henry's memory may be made to OSF Hospice.
