East Peoria – Sigrid G. Reichert, 75, of East Peoria died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, in Venice, Fla. Born Jan. 15, 1938, in Berlin, Germany, to Eberhard vom Dorp and Gretel Spremberg, she married Ralph G. Reichert in Solingen, Germany on Dec. 16, 1967. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Rebecca (O'Neil Cuffe) Reichert of Dania Beach, Fla., and Pamela Marie Fountain of Ossian, Ind.; three grandchildren; one sister, Gina (Fred) Troczinski of Duesseldorf, Germany; and one brother, Horst-Peter vom Dorp of Berlin, Germany. In her early 20s, she took a Dutch ship and traveled around the world over the course of one year. She stopped to visit family and took on jobs in several locations including six months at Mobil Oil in New Zealand. She worked as an executive secretary for six years for Drache Cutlery Inc. in Germany. She also worked for many years as secretary and business manager and assisted with sales for her husband's art business, R.G. Reichert Fine Arts. As a result of a tragic accident on Jan. 2, 1990, she spent the last 24 years of her life as a quadriplegic partially paralyzed from the neck down. She was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, where she sang in the choir among other ministries. She was also a member of Damenchor, the German-American Society in Peoria. A funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. The Revs. Mark J. Nelson and Rev Dr. David Peter will officiate. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
