When someone says to you, “I hate that Nursing Home smell,” you know exactly what smell they are talking about, don’t you! We can’t really put our finger on what that smell is but it conjures up unpleasant feelings for most of us. Skilled Health Centers, nursing homes, whatever you want to call them, are never a place we want to go or like to talk about. You never hear anyone say, “I can’t wait till I get to go to a nursing home!”
We understand this mentality VERY well. It’s the same with hospitals, you never want to need them but you hope there is a good quality one there when you need them. The bottom line, however, is that at some point in our lives, it is almost inevitable for a nursing home to be part of it. So why not take the time now while we are healthy and not in a hurry to really research our options? The last thing we all want to do is to have to make a major decision for our loved ones or for ourselves in a hurry.
I work at Snyder Village and while it is part of my job to help “spread the word” about all we have to offer, I will tell you I truly believe in the care and the services Snyder Village offers. Snyder Village understands that coming to a health center is not on the top of everyone’s list of life achievements. But they also understand that each and every one of us deserves the best care available for that time in our lives that we may need extra help. There are levels of care including everything from In Home Services to Assisted Living and Skilled Health Care along with short-term care for recovery from illness or injury, skilled therapy and Independent Living options. While I believe that Snyder Village is among the best quality facilities in the area for Skilled care, I encourage you to take the time to really research the area BEFORE you are in a time of crisis. There is a wealth of information on the Internet, you can call the local Centers for Medicare and Medicaid for referrals, and check out your local newspaper for information about Skilled Health Care facilities in central Illinois.
Like I said, we never want to think about these times in our lives but we know they may be coming to us or to our loved ones. Wouldn’t you rather be prepared and knowledgeable when that time unexpectedly comes to your family? Check these sites out for information in your free time. You never know when you may need to make these decisions.
