Facebook for Business

I had a wonderful seminar today with SCORE Peoria for the Facebook for Business workshop.  We had a great crowd with all different user levels.  I wish I had more time to go over additional important ideas using Facebook for Business.  I know what works for my customers and I was hoping to share some of that with the crowd today.  I had such great questions at the workshop. I thought I would share them here.

Q.  What happens when someone posts something bad about your company on your Facebook page.  Should you delete it?

A.  If the post has profanity, yes, delete it.  But if it is a complaint, maybe handle it publicly on your Facebook page.  People can recognize when someone is being unreasonable so if you are trying to help them, it shows good customer service on your part.  Also, many companies do use social media for customer support.

Q.  What is tagging?

A.  Tagging on Facebook is mentioning someone by putting the @ sign in front of  their name and choosing them on the drop-down menu which will link to them.  They get notified that they were "tagged" in a post.  It is a great way to include clients and promote what they are doing.  For example, I would post on my Facebook page: "I had a fantastic workshop at @SCORE Peoria today with a great turn out".  SCORE Peoria would get notified that I tagged them in a post.

Q.  What is the best way to merge a personal account and business page?

A.  Unfortunately, Facebook doesn't allow you to do this just yet.  The best way is to direct people to the business page is by suggesting it to them. Then post a link to it on your personal page and let your connections know what you are doing.  Communication is the key.

SCORE has several free workshops throughout the year and mentoring for any business.  They are a great resource for the community.
