Master Gardener meeting

Peoria Master Gardeners will meet on Oct. 17 at the Peoria Extension Office, 4810 N. Sheridan Road, with social time beginning at 12:30 p.m. The education program will start at 1 p.m. with master gardener May Bach, who will give a program on her trip to Mainau Island in Germany, known as Flower Island. The 1-mile square island is loaded with ancient oaks and Sequoia, 1,200 kinds of roses, and over 20,000 varieties of dahlia. The meeting is open to the public. The membership meeting will begin at 2 p.m.

Peoria Garden Club to meet

Peoria Garden Club will meet Nov. 1 at Coyote Creek Golf Club, 8201 W. Lancaster Road, Bartonville, for a noon luncheon and program at 1 p.m. Speaker Nancy Carroll will discuss items for the home or garden that can be made by a beginner or an advanced crafter. There also will be a silent auction and raffle. The public is welcome to make reservations for the luncheon and program by calling Lynn at 697-2195 or Carleen at 697-1119. Cost is $24. Reservation deadline is Oct. 22.
