Events for the July 4 celebration at RiverFront Park in East Peoria have been announced. They are as follows:
• noon to 12:30 p.m. - dedication of the Riverfront Freedom Memorial. This will dedicate the placement of the paving stones at the base of the flag honoring proud Americans. Scheduled are remarks by Mayor Dave Mingus, military services, military order of the Purple Heart, Illinois KIA and more.
• 5-8 p.m. - food vendors (Eysal's Coffee Roasters, East Peoria Band Boosters, Roc Ice Crem, Avanti's, East Peoria Free Methodist Church), face painting by Fon du Lac Park District, Outreach to Space by Lakeview Museum and Fun on the Run.
• 5-11 p.m. - Beer garden (Baumgarten Distributing) music from JMP Radio Group (Lite Rock 107 and Max 102.3), 2 MASS Denial will play two sets (7-8 p.m. and 10:15 to 10:45 p.m.)
• 8:45-9:15 p.m. - preview of the Prairie Air Show
9:30 p.m. - fireworks
As a reminder, bring lawn chairs. All tents are to be removed by 8:45 p.m. No grills or alcohol is permited in the park.
