Illinois Wesleyan University sophomore centerfielder Jillian Runyon from Tremont was one of the best players on one of the best NCAA Division III softball teams this season.
Runyon was named the co-Most Valuable Player of the Titans, who finished 37-15 and placed fifth in the Division III tournament.
The MVP honor came on the heels of Runyon being named to the All-Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Great Lakes Region teams for the second straight year.
Runyon led the Titans with a .398 batting average this season and set school records with 57 stolen bases, 61 runs scored and 181 at-bats.
Her 72 hits trails only the school record 77 hits by Brynn Haase in 2003.
After only two seasons at Illinois Wesleyan, Runyon is the school's all-time leader with 98 stolen bases and she's tied for ninth all-time with 105 runs scored.
The 37 victories compiled by the Titans this season tied for the fifth-most in team history and the 52 games they played is second only to the 53 games Illinois Wesleyan played in 2001.
The Titans set team records for at-bats (1,449) and hits (444).
