WASHINGTON — A Peoria-area Walmart has joined a short list of stores across the nation to feature interactive technology in a number of departments.
The Washington Walmart Supercenter on Freedom Parkway debuted kiosks, touchscreens and help buttons throughout the store on Wednesday — features intended to eventually be rolled out at other Walmart locations nationwide. Only three other stores currently offer the technology.
A deli ordering kiosk allows customers to place orders for food, then pick it up when shopping is complete. Touchscreens throughout the store give customers instant access to the full assortment of items available from Walmart online. Help buttons located in key areas also give shoppers a way to summon immediate assistance from employees.
The store also expanded the number of self check-out lanes as part of a store-wide remodeling.
