There was no kidding around at the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation state tournament held last weekend in Rockford.
Three wrestlers from the Boys & Girls Club of Pekin wrestling program competed and so did another local grappler.
Tyler Haynes, who wrestled in the senior (ages 13-14) 156-pound division, placed fifth and won a medal for a top-eight finish.
Mason Sarnes (122) and Shamon Handegan (130), also from the Boys & Girls Club, wrestled in the novice division (ages 11-12) and were eliminated in the wrestle-backs.
Haynes and Handegan were champions at the Rock Island Sectional.
Karson Lamb, who wrestles for the Tremont-based TJ Trained wrestling club, was seventh (senior/177). He lives in Marquette Heights.
