PEORIA — Three new cases of uncontrolled bleeding in synthetic cannabis users have been reported in Illinois since 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In central Illinois, 35 cases have been reported in Peoria County, 48 in Tazewell County and three in Woodford County. Statewide, 144 cases have been reported, including three deaths.
Synthetic cannabis users who experience severe, unexplained bleeding or bruising should have someone take them to the hospital immediately or call 911. Don't walk or drive yourself. Tell your health care providers about the possible link between your symptoms and synthetic cannabinoid use.
Anyone fighting withdrawal or addictions should call the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery hotline, (800) 522-3784. People can also come to the center 24 hours a day. It’s located on the UnityPoint Health-Proctor campus in Peoria.
