Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869 will be hosting Taco Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The menu includes a soft or hard taco for $1.50, a double-decker taco for $1.75, nacho with cheese only for $2.75, loaded nacho for $5.75, 1/2 loaded nacho for $3, and taco burger for $2.50. Piece it Together Puzzle Club,
Youth in grades 3-6 are invited to the library for our ‘Piece it Together’ puzzle club at 3:30 p.m., June 5 at the Pekin Public Library. The library will supply the puzzle, and kids see if they can it piece it together. We will have a puzzle on our puzzle mat so we can save the work and continue the following month. First Christian Church to Host Salad Luncheon
First Christian Church, 1201 Chestnut St., Pekin, will serve a salad luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, at the church. A $7 donation is requested. The Tazewell County Master Gardeners will present Plant Bingo on June 7 at the FOLEPI Festival Building in East Peoria, 2200 E. Washington St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Games begin at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $7 for two cards or $12 for four cards. The bingo cards have plant names on them instead of numbers and when you get a bingo, you win plants or other garden-related items. There will also be dozens of opportunities to win additional prizes along with a raffle. Everyone is guaranteed to leave with at least two plants and you will receive your first free plant upon arrival. Mint ice tea and lavender lemonade will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own snacks. No alcohol will be allowed. Puttin’ On Pekin Breakfast!
The next Puttin’ on Pekin breakfast will be on Friday, June 8, at 6:45 a.m. and will be held at the Avanti’s Dome at 3401 Griffin Drive. This month’s program will be about the St. Jude Pekin to Peoria Run with speakers Julie Regan and Brian Carroll. Other features of the breakfast include a 50/25/25 drawing, Spotlight on Business presentation, door prize drawings with prizes provided by local businesses, one-minute reminders, and “Meet the New Chamber Member.” For reservations made before noon on June 6, the cost of the breakfast is $20 with discounts for Chamber members and their guests; reservations after noon on June 6 or walk-ins will pay an additional $5 per person. Ice Cream Social
The St. Luke Lutheran Church Youth Group of rural San Jose will host their annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 10. Homemade chocolate and vanilla ice cream will be served along with hot dogs, ham sandwiches, chips, pie, and cake. The serving times will be from 4–7 p.m. Freewill donations will be accepted.
