PEORIA — An East Peoria man has been in the Peoria County Jail for almost a week after being arrested in a double shooting that occurred earlier this month.
Mickael D. Williams, 19, of 114 Ritchie, hasn't been charged in connection with the July 5 double shooting at the Red Roof Inn, 1822 W. War Memorial Drive, that left two injured. Rather, he remains in jail on a warrant from Dallas County, Texas, where he was sentenced to probation for aggravated robbery, said Assistant State's Attorney Steve Pattelli.
Williams waived an extradition hearing and is being held without bond until authorities from Texas pick him up on the outstanding warrant. Whether he's charged in the incident at the Red Roof Inn remains to be seen. An Aug. 3 hearing was set for a review of the case.
On July 5, at about 1:30 a.m., police responded to the Red Roof Inn on a report of shots fired. Officers went to the motel and found a crime scene. A 19-year-old man was shot in the torso while another person, whose age wasn’t known, was shot in the foot. The two victims had arrived at an area hospital by private vehicle.
