Where: 1201 East Washington St. in the old Lester’s Donuts building.
What/why: A third Subway restaurant is coming to town. “The lease is already signed,” said Dave Hanna, co-owner of the Subways in East Peoria. “The key factor is there’s an opportunity for a drive-thru. It will fit well with our other locations.” The other Subways are located in WalMart and on Main Street.
When will it be done?: Sometime in the next couple of months depending on the demolition of the interior of the existing building.
Why will a third one work?: The third Subway will take away from some of the overflow from the other two restaurants, Hanna said. It will also get a lot of business from EastSide Centre. “Because it’s that healthy option, we do a lot of business with athletics,” Hanna said.
