Fire destroys single-family home

A single-family home at 327 E. High St. was destroyed Thursday by a fire that sent three residents and two firefighters to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

The blaze was reported at 6:41 p.m., and the East Peoria Fire Department was the first of five area departments to arrive at the scene six minutes later.

A Creve Coeur spokeswoman said the fire was under control by 9:13 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Thursday.

The residents and firefighters were being treated for heat-related illnesses the spokeswoman said were not life-threatening.

No information on their conditions was available.
