East Peoria police are investigating a second robbery in the city within one week.
A male suspect, who wore a mask, entered the Smoothie King, 426 Riverside Drive, at 3:01 p.m. and demanded money.
After retrieving the money, the suspect exited on foot.
Detective Sgt. Shannon Swearingen said it is too early to say whether this robbery is linked to the armed robbery that occurred at Tropic Cove Tanning in Fondulac Plaza. That incident took place at 2:54 p.m. Nov. 12.
A male suspect, who had his face covered, entered the back door of the business at 2454 E. Washington St. The suspect, who was brandishing a small knife, approached the employee and demanded money.
The employee gave the suspect the money from the drawer. The suspect then ran out the back door.
No one was injured in the incident.
The suspect is described as being 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet inches tall with a medium build.
The suspect in the Smoothie King robbery was wearing blue jeans and a tan Carhart jacket.
Swearingen said there tends to be more robberies around the holidays.
“Tis the season has dual meaning to us,” he said.
Swearingen said the public should try to be more aware of their surroundings.
“If something doesn’t appear right, call. It’s not going to bother anyone,” he said.
