A vacant house fire Friday afternoon in East Peoria did about $70,000 in damages.

A total of 18 East Peoria firefighters were called to the fire at 504 Avondale just before 12:30 p.m., according to assistant fire chief Rick Ward.

The flames were put out in about 15 minutes, he said. The house was vacant, and the fire was contained mainly in the living room area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
