An arrest has been made in the connection with the Aug. 5 stabbing outside Kingsway Tavern.

Robert J.P. Lawrence, 28, of 223 Stewart St., was arrested about 9 p.m. Thursday for two counts of attempted first degree murder, according to the East Peoria Peoria Police Department.

He was taken to the Tazewell County Jail and is being held on $100,000 bond. At his bond hearing Friday, he was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated battery with a weapon.

Wendy Corder, 46, of Brimfield, and Timothy Hall, 45, of North Pekin, were outside the bar, at 808 Meadows Ave., after business hours at about 1:50 a.m. when they were approached by Lawrence, according to police.

A struggle took place, and both were injured by a  knife, said police.

They were transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and were released shortly after.

“It stemmed from an argument that took place earlier in the bar,” said Deputy Chief Chris Hutt, adding that Lawrence refused to make a statement about his involvement during the investigation.
