Instead of trying to beat the winter weather, an East Peoria preschool class has brought an imaginary piece of the winter season into their classroom.
In January, the Fondulac Congregational Preschool constructed an indoor igloo out of 200 milk cartons that were donated from the students’ parents.
The igloo, which came to life with lots of sticks of hot glue, is used by the students as a venue for reading.
“Our rules are that they have to have a book, and they can go under the igloo and read,” Connie Ennis, an employee at the preschool, said.
Ennis added that the igloo has been a hit with the students.
“They love it and are very good with it,” she said. “They don’t try to knock it down, they just go under it to read.”
