Obituary: William Petefish, 74, of East Peoria

William M. “Bill” Petefish, Jr., 74, of East Peoria died at 11:10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

Born March 7, 1937, in Springfield to William M. Sr. and Helen (Ainsworth) Petefish, he married Judy I. Withey on Aug. 12, 1961, in Springfield. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, William (Cynthia) Petefish of Chippewa Falls, Wis. and Jeffrey (Dawn) Petefish of Morton; two daughters, Heidi (Corey) Scot of Brentwood, Tenn., and Sandra Sanchez of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Joseph (Abby), Jacob, Joshua, Samuel, Vivian, Magdalena, Edith and Helen; and one great-grandchild, Teddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

Bill was employed as a data processor at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, retiring after 33 years of service.

He was a member of Morton United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club in Peoria.

Bill enjoyed traveling all over the world. He valued his family above all else.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Morton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Paul Walles officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.

Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Peoria Zoo, 2218 N. Prospect Road, Peoria, IL 61603.
