Bob Marx, President/CEO of the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, resigned Friday from his position.  Marx had been with the bureau since March 2010.

“Bob brought a lot of new ideas to the bureau that the Peoria area benefitted from,” said Sherril West, PACVB Board Chairman.  “One of those was getting the PACVB accredited by the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program.”

In August, Peoria joined the ranks of 130 accredited destination marketing organizations in the United States, Canada and Europe.  This is the destination marketing industry’s most prestigious organizational recognition.

West will serve as the interim PACVB President/CEO until a replacement is found.  In the meantime, the staff at the PACVB is dedicated to continuing serving visitors and contributing to the economic growth of the communities it represents.

“The staff is very focused on serving the many visitors and conventions coming to the area,” said West.  “Additionally, we will continue to work hard to sell and bring new business to the Peoria area, and work closely with the Peoria City Council regarding its budget.”
