Obituary: Roger Chester, 66, of East Peoria

Roger Irven Chester, 66, of East Peoria died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

Born May 1, 1945, in Herrin to Irven Keith and Martha Rogers (White) Chester, he married Marie C. Thunehorst in East Peoria on June 16, 1973.  She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Rachel (Russell) Sweeney and Roger Irven (Mandi) Chester II, both of East Peoria; three grandchildren, twin grandsons, Remington and Drake Sweeney and Cooper Keith Chester; and one sister, Linda Johnson of East Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Floren Keith Chester.

Roger was a Vietnam Army Veteran. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. He was a former baseball and softball coach in East Peoria.  He was a Seventh Day Adventist and a member of the Knoxville Avenue Church in Peoria. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed.  He taught his family Jesus is Lord.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 1, 2012, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
