Gene E. Solomon, 77, of East Peoria, died at 12:10 a.m. Feb. 16, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born in Keenes to Charles and Blanche Scheves Solomon, he married Donna S. Belmont in Mt. Vernon Dec. 24, 1955. She died Aug. 10, 2009.
Surviving are his sons, Thomas Solomon and Dennis Solomon, both of East Peoria; his three grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald (LaVerne) Solomon of Metamora; and his sisters, Lola (Raymond) Woolever of Saybrook and Wanda (Richard) King of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Flora Lee Thomason.
He was employed as a machine operator for Caterpillar Inc. for several years prior to his retirement in 1992. He currently was working as a greeter for Wal-Mart in East Peoria.
Services and visitation were Saturday, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria with the Rev. Jack Thompson officiating.
Burial was in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
