Dorothea Calhoon, 91, of East Peoria, formerly of Iuka, died Nov. 28, 2009, at Pekin Manor.
Born Jan. 14, 1918, in Iuka, to Wadie J. and Dora (Becker) Raguse, she married Leonard L. Calhoon in 1941, also in Iuka. He preceded her in death in 1970.
Surviving are a son, Walter A. (Marilyn) Calhoon of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Raguse and Otto Raguse, and one sister, Ruth Wiehle.
She was a safety deposit box custodian at Regions Bank, and previously worked in the cafeteria at Caterpillar at the end of World War II.
She was a member of the East Peoria Women’s Club, St. Peters Lutheran Church Ladies Guild, and a Sunday school teacher at St. Peters Lutheran Church for more than 20 years. She was also the church secretary.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday Dec. 4, at Remmert Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 5, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in East Peoria. The Rev. Kurt Mews will officiate, and interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Seminary Fund or St. Peters Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
