Gerald A. “Jerry” Miller, 84, of East Peoria, died at 8:03 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1924, in Creek Township, to Percy and Beatrice (Brown) Miller.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan (Brad) Hutton of East Peoria; two grandsons; 5 great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Miller of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Judy Ramey of Miami, Fla.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings.
He worked at Caterpillar Inc. and retired as an inspector in 1981 after 35 years of service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He had owned the 4 Aces Bar in East Peoria and was a member of the VFW Post 2078, American Legion Post No. 318 in Morton, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. The Rev. Kurt Mews will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m. also at the funeral home in East Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
