MINONK — Andrew J. Hvizdos, 77, formerly of East Peoria, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minonk, where he was a resident.
Born July 7, 1932, in Coalton, to Andrew and Anna Telepka Hvizdos, he married Elizabeth Costa Aug. 4, 1956, in Nokomis. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Steve (Patty) Hvizdos of Bolingbrook; one daughter, Sylvia (Brad) Tjaden of Minonk; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
A Navy veteran, he served his country during the Korean War on an aircraft carrier in the Coral Sea.
He worked in the plant security department at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria for 38 years.
He was a life member of the VFW Post No. 2078 in East Peoria and the Knights of Columbus in Minonk.
Private family services were Nov. 4. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk assisted the family with arrangements.
