Julia A. Matheny, 39, of East Peoria, died at 6:57 a.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010, at her home.
Born on Nov. 15, 1970, in Peoria, to Brian J. and Patricia L. Weinandy Bour, she married Stephen G. Matheny on July 11, 1998, in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Claire E. Matheny and Emily A. Matheny, both at home; one stepson, Caleb C. Matheny of Madison, Wis.; her parents, Brian and Patricia Bour of Bowling Green, Ky.; one brother, Michael B. (Holly R.) Bour of Washington; and one sister, Jennifer L. Bour (Ryan P. Murphy, fiancé ) of Bowling Green, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
She earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University. She was a school psychologist in the Tri-County area for 14 years, working for the last four years at Peoria School District 150.
A children’s visitation for friends of Claire and Emily, was June 23 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria, where a time of remembrance for the children will begin at 3 p.m. Visitation was June 23 at the funeral home. A celebration of her life was June 24 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. The Rev. Greg Grindinger officiated.
Additional visitation was June 24 at the church. A private burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
