Patrick M. Hearne, 81, of East Peoria, died at 1:24 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Oct. 9, 1928, in Maryville, to Joseph (Tim) and Christine M. Slemmer Hearne, he married Mary Elizabeth Wagoner on July 3, 1953, in Maryville. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2008, in East Peoria.

Surviving are four children, Jane (Eugene) Roehl of Troy, Tim (Christine) Hearne of Washington, Leta (Roger L.) Williams of Peoria, and Christie (Randy) Heinz of Bellevue; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

He was a construction electrician for the IBEW Union for many years.  He also helped his family run the Bread & Butter Café in Peoria and then in Spring Bay.

He also was a member of the Frank L. Nichols Masonic Lodge 1170 in Creve Coeur.  He served as Past Commander of the VFW Post 2078 in East Peoria and was currently a member of the VFW Post 5921 in Morton.  

Services for Pat were Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of East Peoria. The Rev. Mary Arnold officiated.  Visitation was Tuesday morning at the church.

Burial was in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, where military rites were accorded by the U.S. Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials can be made to his church or to Wildlife Prairie Park.
