Jewel Avenel (Gingrich) Huffman, 88, of East Peoria, died on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Heartland Nursing Home in Peoria.
Born Sept. 2, 1921, in Ozark to Harley and Martha Ann Miller Gingrich, she married Wayne E. Huffman in 1944 in Toulon. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Surviving are one daughter, Gloria J. (Lonnie J.) Seckler of East Peoria; one son, Robert Huffman of Wyoming; one sister, Lovena Milburn of Toulon; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert, and three sisters, Mildred A. Gruver, Lillian Trompeter, and Imogene Ervin.
She provided day care for many years in her home and recently helped her daughter with day care in her home.
Services were Friday at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Daryl Gruver officiated.
Visitation was Thursday at the funeral home in East Peoria. Graveside services were Friday in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory in Kankakee.
