East Peorians must love going out to eat.
The data that announced our top 10 Web site stories for 2009 was interesting to say the least. The top 10 was determined by how many page views the story received.
I was surprised to learn that IHOP and Super Gyros locating to East Peoria beat out President Obama’s visit to Caterpillar as a Top 10 story.
Keep in mind that a lot of factors can play into reasons why a story had more page views than others: maybe a person forwarded the story about them to all their friends and family, or maybe a person who works with computers all day kept viewing the same page over and over.
Whatever the reasons, here are the top 10 Web site stories for 2009 according to page views:
No. 10: Spindler Marina and Campground
Having visited this campground, I can honestly say that it is a nice one, and the staff is very friendly. I met some RVers there who travel year round. What a great life!
No. 9: Tazewell County court cases now online
I can definitely understand why this would be a popular story. Surely, everyone logged on right away to see if any of their friends, family or neighbors were listed on the site. It’s hot gossip.
No. 8: IHOP opening in East Peoria
Like I said, East Peorians love their restaurants and apparently the Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity® too!
No. 7: Walgreen’s Take Care Clinic
It is great to see that East Peorians are concerned about their health.
No. 6: Independence Day events
Hurray! East Peoria is full of patriotic residents who pay homage to our great nation every year at this spectacular show.
No. 5: Super Gyros finds home in East Peoria
I didn’t realize gyros were so popular. Oh, but wait, these are “super” gyros!
No. 4: East Peoria bar violates smoking ban
This story surely angered some, but I must say it was good investigative reporting.
No. 3: Benefit planned for officer Tara Beeney
This is probably the most touching story I did all year. It is great to see a community rally together for one of its own in a time of great need.
No. 2: iPod repair business expanding
An innovative computer-based business that located in East Peoria
No. 1: East Peoria teen operating brick oven pizza business.
It is no surprise that a story about pizza beat out gyros and pancakes. Even though it’s Italian, pizza and America go hand in hand. This youngster even made homemade root beer with his brick oven pies.
And now back to writing the future top stories of 2010.
