I think I’m in love ... with a hamburger.

Not just any hamburger, but an extra delicious, Moo Shoom burger from Burger Barge in East Peoria.

Although I grew up near the Peoria area, I only remember going to this burger joint maybe once or twice.

But, now that I work in East Peoria and play in a co-ed softball league in town, my friends and I have stopped by there about three times so far this summer.

And let me tell you, this burger is to die for. The menu describes it as a “9 oz. ground chuck, with breaded portabella, grilled onion, swiss cheese and dock sauce.”

While all the ingredients combined make the burger amazing, it’s the dock sauce that I have a newfound obsession with.

In fact, it drove me to call the restaurant and ask the question, “So what’s in the dock sauce?”

“I can’t say,” said manager Beau Hawkins, while laughing at my strange request. “All we can say is that it’s a spicy dijon mayonnaise.”

Darn!

He shattered my dreams of recreating the sauce, so I could smother it on sandwiches at home.

However, little does Hawkins know, I’m a very persistent person.

He will see me back there soon with a Moo Shoom burger in front of me, and I’ll keep asking.
