PEORIA — The Peoria Mustangs fell to the St. Louis Junior Blues 5-2 at Owens Center on Sunday afternoon.

Matthew Monreal took an assist from Daniel Dunaway to put St. Louis ahead 1-0 in the first period. Dunaway added another first period assist after finding Ben Jones as the lead was pushed to 2-0.

Jack Hazelton and Regnars Udris scored in the second period to extend the Junior Blues (1-1) lead to 4-0. Peoria's Rhett McDonald found Jack Radley for a goal as the deficit was cut to 4-1 in the second period.

Mark Capkovic scored an unassisted goal in the third period to put St. Louis up 5-1. Jack Power-Wayvon scored for the Mustangs (1-1) in the third period to set the final, 5-2.

Peoria starting goalie Dakota Meyer had 12 saves, while backup Zack Freiburger made 13 saves.
