Olympia captured the Class 1A boys team title Saturday at the First to the Finish Invitational at Detweiller Park. The Spartans put all five of their scoring runners in the top 51 in a field of 355 runner, led by Jon Neville's 16th-place finish.
Tremont's Leland Sumer was the top area finisher, coming in sixth in a time of 16:00.8. The area was well represented in the team standings, with El Paso-Gridley second, Eureka fourth and Elmwood/Brimfield fifth. Kyle Johnson finished eighth and teammate Jack Cook 11th to lead Eureka.
In the 2A boys race, Washington finished sixth and Metamora 13th. Metamora, which ran without junior Adam Gilbreath-Glaub (hip injury), was led by Jacob Gray's area-best 13th-place finish (15:58). East Peroia's Keaton Vandel was 18th.
Dixon won the 2A team title and Fishers the 3A championship on the state meet course.
