While representing a woman who had been brought in on a warrant, Brown got into an argument with Dan Michael, the chief magistrate judge of the Shelby County Juvenile Court. Michael later accused Brown of nearly starting a "riot."
However, Brown - who is running in the Democratic primary for Shelby County District Attorney - feels that the situation has been blown out of proportion. "This speaks to the heavy handed, cruel, and inhuman attitude that's prevalent in Shelby County justice," he wrote on his Facebook page, where he also compared his arrest to that of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Judge Joe Brown would change this cold and calculated administering of justice."
Brown's television program, Judge Joe Brown, aired from 1998 to 2013. Listen to audio of Brown and Michael's exchange below, via TMZ. Do you think he should have been arrested?
