PEORIA HEIGHTS — A Peoria Heights concert series has quickly cemented itself as a summertime tradition in central Illinois, and the next wave of free outdoor concerts starts next month.

The Courtyard Concert Series is put on by Pour Bros. Taproom and held on Saturday nights in the courtyard area of the Heritage Square building off Prospect Road. The series returns on Saturday, May 5, with national indie folk band Magic Giant. The Los Angeles-based trio released its first album last year and has been touring with the likes of The Revivalists and Atlas Genius.

Other notable dates on the Courtyard Series calendar include the Food Truck Frenzy on Sept. 15 and Military Appreciation Day on July 21 with PhanieRae & the Soul Shakers.

All of the concerts are free and will come with an outdoor bar setup by Pour Bros. The current construction on the additional wing of Heritage Square is slated to be completed by the end of April, before the start of the series, according to Pour Bros. co-owner Robbie Mathisen. The parking lot also is expected to be paved by that point.
