1928 - 2016
Robert F. “Lucky” Emmons, 88, of Ottawa, formerly of Havana and Bushnell, Fla., passed away at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at Parker Nursing and Rehab in Streator.
He was born April 7, 1928, in Havana to Buford and Sylvia G. Leonard Emmons. He married Sandra K. Siebenborn April 1, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana. She preceded him in death May 21, 2015.
Mr. Emmons is survived by two sons, Don (Tina) Emmons of Ottawa and Ron Emmons of Peoria; two daughters, Cindy Jo Emmons of Toluca and Becky Emmons of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Dale Emmons; son, Robert F. Emmons Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Emmons.
Mr. Emmons served in the United States Navy for 12 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a manager for several different Kroger Grocery Stores, retiring in 1990. In retirement, he lived in Florida for 23 years and was an avid golfer.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 5, at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, with visitation one hour prior to the services.
Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. The Rev. Jame Hahs will officiate. A funeral luncheon for family and friends will follow the graveside services. VFW Post 6408 and American Legion Post 138 will provide a burial detail at the cemetery.
