1924 - 2017

Harold Patrick Culp Jr., 92, of O’Fallon, formerly of Peoria, passed away Sunday morning, March 5, 2017, at Swansea Health & Rehab Center, Swansea, Ill.

He was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Gillespie to Harold Austin Culp and Margaret Daley Culp.

Surviving are his six children, Patrick Culp, Nancy (Jerry Hunsel) Culp, Cheryl (Steve) Zielinski, Frank (Renee) Culp, Ronald (Sherry) Culp and Christine (Michael) Smallberger; daughter-in-law, Grace “Suzi” Ogle; brother, Carmen “Babe” Culp. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and his dear friend and long-time loving companion, Sidney Nickerson.

Mr. Culp was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Goldie Mae Mullen Culp, whom he married May 3, 1951; his son, Edward Culp; and his parents.

Mr. Culp moved from Peoria to O’Fallon 17 years ago. He retired in 1986 from Caterpillar Inc., where he worked as a timekeeper.

Harold was a loyal Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was a talented table tennis player, winning many trophies and accolades over the years. Having seen the Cubs win the World Series, Harold was able to die a happy man.

Memorial Service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at The Cross Baptist Church, 4201 Edgewater Drive, Pekin, with the Rev. Jay Arnold officiating.

His cremated remains will be placed at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
