1929 - 2017

Almeda May Wilson, 87, of Pekin, passed away at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Unity Point Health – Pekin.

Born May 31, 1929, in Elm Grove Township, Tazewell County, to Frank and Millicent Ashcraft Rowell. She married Bedford Newman Wilson Dec. 24, 1947, in Peoria. He passed away Sept. 19, 1993, in Denver, Colo.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Frank Junior, Harley, Floyd, Fred and Lawrence; and three sisters, Viola, Alberta and Marietta.

Surviving are three daughters, Kristine (Dennis) Smith of Pekin, Karen (Kenneth) Coats of Glasford and KaSanda Wilson of Pekin; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lilah (Ronald) Bright of Tremont.

She was a 1947 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

Almeda had worked for Central Telephone Company in Pekin as an operator for many years. She also had co-owned and operated Cobbler Corner Restaurant in Pekin for 12 years.

She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Pekin.

Almeda enjoyed traveling, dancing and spending time with her family.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
