The Pekin Police Department is again this year asking for the support of the community by voting daily for the Aftermath K-9 Grant.

The department entered its K-9 Officer Ahen in the contest. The department has the opportunity to receive a maximum grant award of $5,000. Aftermath, specialists in trauma cleaning and biohazard removal, give back to the communities they serve and offer sponsorship programs throughout the country for police canine programs.

This year Aftermath is offering $15,000 in awards to the top five entries. First place will receive $5,000 and fifth place will receive $1,000. Last year the Pekin Police Department K-9 officer missed the top prize by only a handful of votes and Pekin received $1,000.

“This is a great opportunity to not only bring recognition to our K9 program, but engage our community in the process,” said Chief John Dossey. “Ahen is a unique police officer on our department.”

The police department is asking the community to show their support by going to the Aftermath website and casting your vote for Ahen. Votes can be cast every day and if one has multiple email accounts they can vote on each account.
