A woman and two children lost their Morton home to fire June 22. No one was injured.
The residents weren’t home when flames broke out at about 10 p.m. in the kitchen of the one-story home at 701 E. Monroe St., village Fire Chief Joe Kelley said Thursday. The fire’s cause remains undetermined.
While the fire was contained to the kitchen area, smoke, water and structural damage rendered the home beyond repair, Kelley said. He estimated $75,000 in damages to the 2,400-square-foot home.
Kelley did not identify the home’s adult resident. Tazewell County records list its owner as Deborah Collins-Morrison.
