The annual Delavan Fall Festival is coming Labor Day weekend and will honor a late festival regular while it celebrates its theme: Celebrating the Decades.

The family-oriented festival kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday at Lake Park in Delavan with a carnival buddy night until the park closes at 10 p.m. The festival, which runs through Sept. 3, will offer a long list of old favorites, including carnival rides, bingo and vendor booths, as well as a food stand featuring the festival’s famous pork chop sandwiches. Community projects will benefit from the annual harvest celebration. For more information about the festival, contact Aaron Weyhrich at 309-840-0838.

“We always look forward to this weekend, a time for the community and friends in central Illinois to come together,” Delavan Mayor Elizabeth Skinner said. “I am so proud of all of the volunteers who pull together to make this such a great event in Delavan.”

“And it is so fitting that the antique tractor pull is being held this year in remembrance of Matt Rummel,” Skinner added. “Matt was a very respected person of our community, and I think it is just wonderful that this event is being named in his memory.”

Rummel passed away in December 2017. He had been a part of the tractor pulls for more years than most can remember and a long-time of the tractor pulls event chairman.

“The Festival board decided this year to honor Matt’s legacy by hosting the pulls in his name,” said Weyhrich. “Many of his friends and family will be helping, including his daughters with sign-in.”
