WASHINGTON — Uftring Chevrolet christened a new dealership just shy of one year since fire destroyed the old facility.

The new building, with a vehicle showroom and service area, opened Monday at 1860 Washington Road.

"The sun came up today over the all-new Uftring Chevrolet in Washington. It's a brand new day for a brand new dealership," read a social media post from the dealership. "We can't thank you enough for your patience while we rebuilt the store."

A fire that began in the service area of the old dealership structure on Jan. 5 generated giant plumes of black smoke that could be seen for miles. The flames destroyed the structure before they could be extinguished.

Uftring Chevrolet had been operating nearby out of a former Walmart and Tractor Supply Company parking lot while the new dealership was constructed.
