A 20-year-old woman who went missing recently in Southern Illinois died from hypothermia caused by exposure, according to reports.

The body of Brooke Naylor of Harrisburg was found last week in a remote area of Gallatin County, in far southeastern Illinois. Her vehicle had been found abandoned nearby.

Over the weekend, the Gallatin County coroner revealed what caused Naylor's death, according to the Southern Illinoisan newspaper of Carbondale.

A statewide search began after Naylor was reported missing. Nothing has been reported about the circumstances of her disappearance or what led to her death.

According to WPSD-TV of Paducah, Ky., Naylor's 21st birthday would have been Monday. Funeral services were scheduled for later this week in Carmi.
