Update: Due to bad weather conditions, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced that planned lane closures will happen on both Aug. 21 and Aug. 22.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that lane closures on both sides of Interstate 74 near the Illinois River will begin Tuesday, Aug. 20, in a news release.

The closures are necessary for crews to inspect the bridges that carry Interstate 74 over Camp Street, a railroad, a bike path and Farm Creek in East Peoria. There also will be inspections on the westbound I-74 flyover exit ramp over I-74, Farm Creek and exit ramps just east of Murray Baker Bridge.

The inspections are planned for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and are expected to be complete by Aug. 21.
