MORTON - Fewer Morton District 709 students were absent this past week due to confirmed COVID-19 diagnoses, but the number of those quarantined went up, according to information released by the district.
A total of eight students - seven high school students and one Lettie Brown Elementary School student - had confirmed positives as of Friday, a drop from 12 the week before.
Among staff, two were out of the classroom due to positive COVID-19 tests, up from zero the week before.
The number of students in quarantine this past week rose to 95 from 84, and the number of staff members in quarantine decreased to 10 from 13 the week before.
Administrators said the school has a positivity rate of .28 percent.
